Symbiosis Orchestra is a mix-media band, created by Andrea Gabriele at the Peam 2005 festival in Pescara, Italy. The band is a variable ensemble of classical and electronic instruments that perform a symbiotic combination of music and images.
Instruments such as the flute and laptop, manipulated voice and electric vibraphone, are used in combination with tangible images and abstract chromatic effects projected on an intricate set design. The music is a synthesis of many styles, the result of pieces orchestrated in the studio and on the spot improvisation. |

Claudio Sinatti is a director, video designer and multimedia

for Italian pop artists and bands such as Casino Royale,

Neffa, Carmen Consoli, Articolo 31, Alex Britti, Africa Unite, 99 Posse. This activity was soon complemented by personal art projects.
In 1999 Sinatti founded the collective Sun Wu-Kung, a project for audio-visual experimentation that drew together videomakers, photographers, animators, illustrators and musicians. Sinatti continued his exploration of the possible frontiers of live electronics through numerous collaborations with musicians such as Christian Fennesz, Ulrich Troyer, Scanner, Andrea Gabriele and Marita Cosma in the Pirandèlo project, Sergio Messina in the live media project Crop, with the Neapolitan duo Retina.It, with Pierpaolo Leo, with Marco Messina of 99Posse in the Kyo project and with the artists' collective Avatar 41°.
The author of sensitive video-sets that gently conduce an emotional involvement, Claudio Sinatti's aim is not to shock, but to guide the audience participation along an ebb and flow of aesthetic meditation. Sinatti holds frequent lectures and workshops and teaches video design and live mixedmedia at the European Institute of Design in Milan. |

He worked for brands such as MTV, BMW, Breil, Pirelli, Arena, Heineken, Ballantyne Cashmere...
Andrea Gabriele released records with the band Tu M' (until 2003), then as Mou, Lips!, since 2003 as Pirandèlo together with Claudio Sinatti and Marita Cosma, and with many other projects from experimental to disco music. His shows - featuring real time audio-video interaction - have been presented at the main electronic art festivals around Europe (Netmage, PEAM, Avril.dot, Dissonanze, Sintesi, Kals'art, Sprawl), and his records are distributed in Japan, USA and Europe.
Together with Luigi Pagliarini, Andrea Gabriele is the main curator and organizer of PEAM (Pescara Electronic Artists Meeting). He made lectures about sound design and interactive installations in art schools such as Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) and Nuova Accademia delle Belle Arti (NABA) in Milano. He works at Post-Post Studio. |

Mario Masullo is a musician, a producer and a sound artist.
His productions concern different kinds of musical projects,
from ambient to techno, from experimental music to audio-

video installations. After a remix for BMG, he starts the project Defrag Sound Processing (DSP-Recordings) with Davide Rovito, Pasquale Basso and Carlo Notarangelo, which became one of the most important Italian labels for electronic music.
"The Knowledge" with the artists Bianco/Valente has had a crucial importance on Masullo's artistic experience. In 2003, they started the project "Bianco-Valente and Mass", their audio/video installations having been exposed worldwide: the OffiCina Gallery in Beijing, the Reina Sofia National Museum of Madrid, the Future Gallery in Prague, the Palazzo Te Museum in Mantova, the Utrecht Festival For Contemporary Arts and the Certosa of Padula in Salerno for the art exhibition "Le Opere e i Giorni" edited by Achille Bonito Oliva. In 2003, they start "Self Organizing Structures", an audio/video concert performed at the Auditorium Parco Della Musica in Rome, for the event RomaEuropa Festival 2003. Next year, they showed this project at the MACBA (Contemporary Arts Museum of Barcelona) for the event Sonar 2004. At the end of 2004, they were guest of the 48th Edition Biennale of Contemporary Music in Venice.
In 2005, Masullo moved from Naples to Rome where he started to work with Maurizio Martusciello, one of the pioneers and key figures in the Italian electronic scene. Their collaboration starts with "Fuorioraria", an audio/video improvisation show created with Enrico Ghezzi. They are currenty working together with other musicians from the ECM label to realize a performance and an album. During the same year, Mario Masullo collaborated with Gez Varley (G-Man and ex LFO member) for "Amblos Chapler", a techno-oriented project.

Flautist, saxophonist and composer, Geoff Warren's career
has been characterised by a typically English eclecticism
and a constant search for new sounds and new situations

in which to express himself creatively. He has played in Europe, Asia and the United States in situations from contemporary chamber music to ethno-jazz, from commercial recording sessions to New Age. Particularly significant collaborations have been with English composer and bandleader Graham Collier, Ukrainian guitarist Enver Izmailov, and Indian percussionist Badal Roy.
Geoff Warren's career as a professional musician began in 1979 with a tour with Graham Collier which took in the Camden Jazz Festival. In the eighties Geoff Warren fronted a jazz quartet of his own which frequently broadcast for BBC Radio as well as touring for the British Council in Hungary (1985) and Yugoslavia (1986). During these London years he worked with many of the big names of the British jazz scene, including Harry Beckett, John Surman, Art Themen, John Marshall among others.
In 1988 Warren began a series of collaborations with musicians in Italy. Since then he has worked with, among others, Paolo Fresu, Enrico Rava and Carlo Actis Dato, and in 1992 he played at the Seville Expo with Andrea Centazzo. In 1993 his musical "Poker" was produced in Munich and the entire score was broadcast on Bavarian radio. In 1995 he toured Italy, Switzerland and Germany with Ukrainian/Tartar guitarist Enver Izmailov and during the tour recorded the CD "Dancing Over The Moon" for TUTU Records, which the following year was presented at the Nuremberg East-West Festival. The duo teamed up again at the Odessa Jazz Festival (Ukraine) in 2002.
In 1997 Warren met Badal Roy, tablas player for Ornette Coleman and before that Miles Davis, and they put together their current trio project, which has toured Italy frequently since then. The CD "Kolkata Rose", recorded in New York with bassist Stomu Takeishi has been released in the USA and in Europe, and a second CD recorded in Verona with Italian bassist Marcello Sebastiani is due for release shortly.
Since 2001 Geoff Warren has been Artistic Director for the M.A.T. music school in Verona, Italy, where among other things he holds a Jazz Flute course every Summer. |
